Title: Clinical School Social Worker II
Salary Schedule Range: 72
Purpose of Position: The Clinical School Social Worker II helps students and families make the best use of available opportunities and resources to fully develop each student‘s individual potential. In addition, the Clinical School Social Worker II provides clinical supervision to ASW and AMFT staff employed in the district.
Reporting: Reports to an assigned supervisor.
Employment Status: Full-time, 11 months per year (FLSA Non-exempt)
Location: District Administration, Student and Family Services Services
Essential Functions:
Services for Students
Provides crisis intervention for students/
Develops intervention strategies to increase academic success.
Assists with conflict resolution and anger management.
Provides case management to students on FSA school-based counseling wait lists.
Coordinating and facilitating skill-building counseling groups for students on
FSA school-based counseling wait lists.
Services for Parent and Families
Works with parents to provide support in their children‘s school adjustment.
Alleviates family stress to enable the child to function more effectively in school and
community.
Assists parents in accessing and utilizing school and community resources.
Provides post-crisis intervention case management, including helping families link to
intensive, wrap-around mental health services.
Services To School Staff
Communicates and collaborates with school staff and administration.
Participates in case conferences and attend school site meetings related to students and
families in need of support.
Provides staff with essential information to better understand factors (cultural, societal,
economic, familial, health, etc.) affecting a student‘s performance and behavior.
Assesses students with mental health concerns.
Assists teachers with behavior management.
School-Community Liaison
Obtains and coordinates community resources to meet students‘ needs.
Advocates for new and improved community/school service to meet the needs of
students and families.
Helps the system respond effectively to each child‘s needs.
Services To District
Serves as the team lead for the district‘s mental health professionals
Provides clinical supervision to those district staff who are AMFT and ASW and working toward full licensure.
Identifies and reports child abuse and neglect.
Provides case management for students and families requiring multiple resources.
Utilizes trauma-informed practices and interventions, mindfulness, and behavior modification.
Utilizes an integrated system for tracking client demographics, process outcomes, and outcome
objectives.
Maintain case notes in accordance with the standards set forth by the Board of Behavioral
Sciences.
Education, Training and Experience:
Bachelor‘s degree and an LCSW or MFT required.
Eligibility to provide clinical supervision to AFT and ASW staff
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
T wo years similar experience in school social work, clinical case management or case management.
Additional Requirements:
Ability to travel between and among school sites throughout the District, is required; a valid California driver‘s license is required.
