The vegetable farm crew coordinates with the Director of Landscape Management and Farm supervisor in assisting in maintaining a five acer vegetable garden for farm to table.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must satisfactorily perform each essential duty. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform their essential duties.

1. Coordinate with Director of Landscape Management and farm supervisor in all areas of grounds maintenance responsibilities.

2. Plant, harvest, weed, water crops, mow, weed trim.

3. Apply control measures for insects, diseases, weeds, pests, and fertility.

4. Maintain records for all applications, crops, and harvest poundage.

5. Assist in all cultural programs for flowerbeds, turf, and greenhouse maintenance.

6. Keep the barn, greenhouse, and equipment clean and tidy.

7. Assist with seasonal decorations and floral arrangements as needed.

8. Perform other seasonal duties as assigned.

9. Able to stoop, stand, and operate hand tools for extended amount of time.

QUALIFICATIONS

The qualifications listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

KNOWLEDGE

Previous horticulture, gardening, operating equipment or experience preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to work flexible shifts, in various weather conditions.

Positive attitude.

Willing to work in a team atmosphere but also individually.

SUPERVISION

Position functions with supervision.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

Basic knowledge of running and using farm equipment and tools. Prefer candidate to have basic knowledge of caring for vegetable plants, able to identify weeds, crop needs, proper harvesting technics and insects.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

Valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential duties.

Lifting will be required. (Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.).

The ability to do physical work in a variety of weather conditions including but not limited to extreme heat and cold.

UNIFORM REQUIREMENT

Covered shoes, pants.
