SUMMARY
Skills Trainers will provide skills training to program youth directly related to the goals of the youth's treatment plan; Skills Trainers will act as the youth's advocate, mentor, and behavior coach, and attend wrap meetings for coordination of care. Average caseload is 10- 12 youth. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Providing rehabilitation services to youth in the home, school, and community focusing on specific skill deficit areas including, independent living skills, emotion regulation, social skills and coping skills.
Helps develop formal/informal support networks for youth/families in the communities in which they reside.
Participate in wraparound team meetings.
Triage crisis situations with team members, including doing basic risk assessments, safety planning, and connecting to resources to maintain safety in the home, school, and community.
Acts as a positive role model for youth and promotes greater youth participation and voice at the practice, program, and policy levels of the System of Care.
Documents all clinical work per Medi-Cal requirements and SDCC policies and procedures.
Maintains clear, effective, and open communication between multi-disciplinary clinical staff and administrative personnel within and between SDCC programs.
Utilizes supervision, consultation, and training as necessary to provide high quality services to youth in an effective manner
Availability to work evening and occasional weekend hours, and to be on-call during working hours by the youth on their caseload
Fulfills all required training including Cerner, applicable EBP training, cultural competency, and HIPAA
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret medical records, journals, reports, and legal documents; Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community; Ability to effectively present information to management and public groups

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Most services will be provided in or near the homes of the families we serve. Employees are considered essential service providers and will be expected to work with families in need during pandemics or natural disasters.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Valid California Driver's License and reliable transportation
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
2 years experience working with youth and families or Juvenile Justice or Child Welfare or Regional Center services
Good verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Degree in Child Development, Sociology, Psychology, or Criminal Justice
Bilingual in Spanish
Experience working in a wraparound program or with foster/probation youth
Work experience as an advocate or trainer
Work experience documenting in an Electronic Health Record.
Proficient in Cerner (online medical records system)
