A well-established commercial real estate firm is seeking a Senior Property Controller to manage the financial operations of a portfolio of commercial office properties. This role is ideal for someone with strong accounting expertise, commercial property experience, and proficiency in MRI or Yardi. The firm offers a collaborative work environment with opportunities to work across departments on high-impact financial processes.

The Senior Property Controller will oversee year-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and tenant escalations across a portfolio of 10 commercial properties. The ideal candidate is an experienced real estate accountant who thrives in a dynamic, multi-property environment, can handle complex reconciliations, and is comfortable interfacing with auditors, tenants, and internal stakeholders.

• Lead year-end close and prepare year-end financial statements.
• Perform monthly and quarterly bank reconciliations (approximately 5 per month).
• Collaborate with other departments on monthly and quarterly financial statements and general ledger maintenance.
• Manage the month-end and quarterly close process, including accruals, expense adjustments, and reconciliations.
• Oversee tenant escalations and operating expense billing reconciliations across 10 commercial properties.
• Handle year-end close and bank reconciliations for four properties within the portfolio.
• Assist with lease administration, including reconciling contract payments for property improvements and renovations.
• Support external audits, ensuring compliance and accurate financial reporting.
• Work on ad hoc financial projects as needed.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• CPA is a plus.
• 5+ years of accounting experience in commercial real estate (NYC or DC market preferred).
• Experience with MRI or Yardi is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of tenant escalations, operating expense reconciliations, and property-level accounting.
• Ability to manage multiple properties and collaborate across departments.
• Experience with both private and public accounting is a plus.
