The Fort Belvoir Religious Support Office (RSO) to perform services as a Musician (Cantor and Choir) for religious activities on Fort Belvoir located in the Belvoir, Woodlawn, and Fairfax Chapels. The Cantor musician shall provide support to the RSO.
Qualifications: The Cantor musician must provide a resume and documentation to substantiate personal qualifications. Although a specific degree is not mandatory, any credentials pertaining to this position, training and experience is considered in the award of this contract
(a) The Cantor musician shall demonstrate their ability to sing in the appropriate style and provide musical direction.
(b) The Cantor musician shall demonstrate ability to perform any selections in the Armed Forces
Hymnal and other hymnals and/or song books designated by the NAFI POC
(c) The Cantor musician shall be familiar with the faith traditions and practices of the supported congregation(s)
(d) The Cantor musician shall possess the ability to comprehend and communicate effectively in English, both orally and writing
(e) The Cantor musician shall have personal transportation to fulfill contract requirements and any other items or services to fulfill this contract
(f) The Cantor musician shall Present a neat and well-groomed appearance appropriate for services being conducted during the performance of this contract, wearing a nameplate identification badge.
6.0 CANTOR MUSICIAN REQUIREMENTS/PERORMANCE STANDARDS. The Cantor musician shall perform the
following:
(a) The Cantor musician shall provide cantor services at weekend masses usually 1600 on Saturday at Wood lawn Chapel, 0930 at Belvoir Chapel, and 1100 at Fairfax Chapel. Performance will include all hymns, choruses, and all vocal music during the service. The cantor musician shall adjust tempo and style of singing to enhance the congregation’s ability to participate in worship through the signing of hymns, choruses, and spiritual songs. Musical selections will be approved by the NAFI-POC 136 units (1 unit equals 1.5 hours)
(b) The Cantor musician shall ensure that choirs are prepared for weekend masses. The cantor musician shall prepare the musical selections approved by the NAFI-POC. 136 units (1 unit equals 1 hours)
(c) The Cantor musician shall provide cantor services for solemnities, funerals, and other special occasions.
The cantor musician shall adjust tempo and style of accompaniment to enhance the congregation’s ability to participate in worship through the signing of hymns, choruses, and spiritual songs. Performance will include all hymns, choruses, and all vocal music during the service. See Technical Exhibit 1 for projected dates and number of services for solemnities. Technical exhibit will be updated prior to the start of each period of performance.
(d) The Cantor musician shall ensure choirs rehearse in preparation for all special worship services. The cantor musician shall prepare the musical selections approved by the NAFI-POC. 40 Units (1 unit = 2 hours).
(e) The Contactor shall provide musical direction to the chapel choir during Solemnities and other special Masses (i.e.. Funerals).
(f) The Cantor musician shall provide musical direction for choir rehearsals in preparation for Solemnities.
Musical selections must be approved by the NAFI-POC. See technical exhibit one for projected times and dates for rehearsals.
(g) Cantor musician shall meet monthly with the NAFI-POC and Senior Catholic Chaplain to review plans for upcoming masses. The planning meeting will include discussion of music selections, calendar updates, and review of past services.
