University of Nevada, Reno Counseling Services

The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) Counseling Services invites applications for a dedicated and compassionate full-time Licensed Psychologist to serve as a Generalist Psychologist with an Emphasis in Assessment. The position includes serving as the Assessment Coordinator for our comprehensive psychological assessment services as well as contributing broadly to clinical service provision, training, and outreach within a diverse and inclusive university community. This role is ideal for a licensed psychologist with a strong background in psychological assessment who is also committed to providing generalist clinical services in a collaborative, student-centered environment. The successful candidate will oversee and coordinate the Counseling Services Assessment Program, which provides high-quality evaluations for ADHD and learning disabilities to UNR students. Referrals are received from Counseling Services clinicians and other campus partners.

About the Position:

Under the supervision of the Director and delegated Assistant or Associate Directors of Counseling Services, this clinician will:

  • Coordinate CS assessment program with a focus on the provision of high-quality and efficient psychological assessment
  • Provide individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, case management, and psychological assessment to university students
  • Offer clinical supervision and training for graduate students, doctoral psychology interns, and postdoctoral trainees
  • Engage in outreach, consultation, and psychoeducational programming for students, faculty, and staff
  • Work within a generalist treatment model with a strong multicultural emphasis.
  • Maintain records and services in accordance with professional ethics, legal standards, and university policies

Assessment Coordinator Responsibilities, this psychologist will:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, including test administration, interpretation, integrated report writing, and feedback sessions.
  • Develop treatment recommendations and provide referrals as appropriate.
  • Supervise and train doctoral trainees (interns, postdocs, and graduate students) in psychological assessment.
  • Maintain and enhance the assessment program, including program evaluation, interdepartmental collaboration, and efficient delivery of services.
  • Coordinate the use of digital assessment tools and support the equitable, efficient delivery of services.

Proficiency is expected in administering and interpreting a wide range of assessment instruments, including:

  • Cognitive and intellectual measures (e.g., WAIS-V)
  • Attention and executive functioning assessments (e.g., T.O.V.A., CVLT-3)
  • Academic achievement tests (e.g., WJ-IV ACH)
  • Personality and diagnostic inventories (e.g., MMPI-3, PAI)
  • Other self-report measures relevant to psychoeducational evaluations

Experience with digital platforms for psychological testing is highly valued, as our center has recently transitioned many assessments to electronic formats to support accessibility and efficiency.

Generalist Clinical Responsibilities: In addition to assessment responsibilities, this psychologist will:

  • Provide individual and group therapy to students presenting with a wide range of mental health concerns.
  • Participate in prevention, outreach, and consultation services across the university community.
  • Provide clinical supervision and training within our APA-accredited doctoral internship program and postdoctoral residency.
  • Participate in administrative duties and interdisciplinary initiatives as assigned by the Director.

All services are provided within the scope of professional ethics, state and federal law, and standards of care for mental health practitioners.

Required Qualifications:

Psychologist I Doctorate Degree in clinical or counseling psychology to include a doctoral internship AND experience gained during the course of the degree program and related practicums/internships/postdocs is sufficient to qualify.

Psychologist II Doctorate Degree in clinical or counseling psychology to include a doctoral internship AND three (3) years of related licensed work experience to include clinical supervisory experience OR in a specialty function.

Psychologist III Doctorate Degree in clinical or counseling psychology to include a doctoral internship AND five (5) years of related licensed work experience to include a minimum of two (2) years clinical supervisory experience.

Licensure Licensed Psychologist in the State of Nevada within one (1) year of employment. If the incumbent does not hold a Nevada psychologist License at time of appointment, the incumbent will be shown as a "Psychotherapist", Grade C until they are licensed in the state of Nevada. Licensing must take place within one year of the date of appointment. Failure to earn a Nevada Psychologist License within one year will result in termination of the appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience providing psychotherapy, case management, crisis intervention, and group therapy to individuals with psychopathology
  • Program development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation
  • Experience working in a college counseling center
  • Experience in conducting and interpreting psychological assessments in a college counseling setting
  • At least three years of experience in conducting and interpreting psychological assessments with older adolescents or adults
  • At least two years of managerial, coordination, or other relevant experience
  • Experience providing clinical supervision
  • Strong organizational and presentation skills
  • Knowledge, skills, and experience practicing with a high degree of professional ethics and standards as stated by applicable professional organizations, as well as state and federal law
  • Knowledge of APA multicultural guidelines that govern psychological practice
  • Skilled in providing clinical supervision for psychologists and psychology trainees
  • Excellent oral, written, and communication skills
  • Good empathic, interpersonal communication skills, particularly for diverse community members within and outside of the university

Compensation:

Psychologist I III starts at $95,510

Unlicensed Psychotherapist starts at $89,510.40
