Job Description

Description A reputable marine services provider is seeking a skilled Marine Electrician to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems on vessels at a shipyard in Vicksburg, MS. This role involves troubleshooting, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and working with shipboard electrical systems such as generators, switchboards, navigation systems, and lighting. Responsibilities Electrical Installation & Maintenance: Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems, wiring, and components on vessels, including generators, motors, control panels, and lighting. Perform wiring, conduit bending, and cable terminations following applicable regulations. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with electrical panels, circuit breakers, transformers, and shore power connections. Conduct routine maintenance and inspections to prevent equipment failures. Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams. Testing & Troubleshooting: Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters and meggers to test and repair electrical components. Identify and resolve grounding issues, voltage fluctuations, and system malfunctions. Perform insulation resistance testing and continuity checks to ensure circuit integrity. Assist with power distribution and system integration on newly built and repaired vessels. Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with OSHA, USCG, and ABS electrical safety standards. Follow proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures when working on energized equipment. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to environmental and safety regulations. Participate in safety meetings and training sessions as required. Requirements 3+ years of experience as an Electrician or Industrial Electrician (shipyard experience preferred). Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems, including AC/DC power distribution. Ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot generators, navigation equipment, lighting, and control panels. Familiarity with PLC systems, automation, and power management systems (preferred). Experience working in confined spaces, onboard vessels, and in an industrial shipyard environment. Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Proficiency in using hand and power tools, electrical meters, and testing equipment. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks. Work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and various weather conditions. Ability to wear protective gear, including gloves, eye protection, and arc flash PPE. Preferred Certifications: OSHA 10 or 30-Hour Maritime Safety Certification (preferred). ABYC, NMEA, or USCG Electrical Certification (a plus). NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Training (preferred). Forklift and Aerial Lift Certification (preferred).
