Duties
- Works under general supervision of the supervisor or lead who assigns projects to be accomplished, areas to be worked and the seasonal planting and maintenance schedule.
- Schedules and may be assisted by lower level employees in preparing planting areas; watering, fertilizing, planting, pruning and trimming plants, shrubs and trees. Maintain flowers and seeded areas to ensure and attractive appearance.
- Determine quantities of plants and materials required for specific areas. Identifies and applies treatment for plant diseases, insects and related problems. Uses a variety of hand and power operated garden tools and equipment.
- Operates a farm-type tractor and towed or attached equipment on level or rolling terrain typical of a golf course.
- Frequently operates towed and attached equipment (i.e. mowers, aerators, plow spreaders, harrows, sprayers, etc.) manipulating both tractor and equipment controls through hydraulic or mechanical controls.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a medical examination.
- Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
- A valid driver's license is required.
Qualifications
Must have experience which demonstrated knowledge of seasonal gardening tasks, such as fertilizing, preparing seedbeds, transplanting, laying sod, aerating, pruning, trimming, and applying chemicals to plants; and be skilled in operating a variety of diesel, gasoline or electric powered wheeled vehicles with attachments with a gross vehicle weight of more than 10,000 and up to 26,000 pounds.

- All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
Incentives and Bonuses - Incentives will not be paid.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances - Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
