Required Qualifications Minimum of 2 years experience managing and operating a small-to-medium sized farm Strong familiarity with sustainable farming practices and principles such as Ley farming, biodynamic farming, and regenerative farming Heavy equipment experience (loaders & tractors) Strong computer skills and ability to use various applications, programs, and platforms Responsibilities The Farm Manager will be responsible for the following duties & tasks: All on-site farm labor and maintenance Maintaining electronic communication and assorted computer-based tasks Leading on-site and off-site farm meetings, site visits from sponsors, and farm tours Training volunteers, staff, interns, and apprentices On-site organization, fabrication, landscaping, and cleaning projects Meetings/Admin tasks, which include: Organize and coordinate a seasonal Farmers Market stand in Madras and Warm Springs Using our Google Workspace regularly for communication and organizing work Attendance and active participation in Farm Committee team meetings Reporting and logging farm-related information in an organized Farm Growing Log Ordering farm materials and supplies Tracking supplies and materials, and maintaining inventory Farm scheduling and planning; crop rotation planning Continuing education, receiving mentorship or other trainings (needs to receive prior approval by the CEO) Ordering Order and replenish all farm / garden supplies and hardware Submit online email requests for maintenance or repairs to the CEO and Executive Lead Designer. Develop an organized system for the cleaning and proper storage of tools Ensure your own safety and the safety of others at all times Cleaning, sanitizing (if needed), and maintenance of all required tools/equipment Submit all requests to purchase necessary supplies and safety equipment to the CEO and Executive Lead Designer Everyone who is on the farm needs to wear appropriate clothing and PPE wherever possible. Administration, Training, Communication Maintain regular and proper communication with the CEO and Executive Lead Designer about the condition of the farm, material requests, scheduling, and logistics Volunteers 18 years of age and older who plan to be repeat volunteers must read and sign an agreement before any work begins. All volunteers must read and sign a waiver before any work begins All underage volunteers must have a responsible adult present and supervising at all times, who must read & sign a waiver before any work begins. Regular remote attendance at Farm Committee Meetings, which are held twice / month Responsible for coordinating Volunteer Work Parties, or making requests for additional staff and volunteers Provide training for volunteers who will help with any farm work or maintenance Hours This position is seasonal, and the schedule is a 45 week cycle (10 months). Hourly needs of the position are highly variable on the flow of the farm. For example, some weeks are 30 hours/week and other weeks are 10 hours; this equals a 20-hour weekly average.
