Eagle's Nest Owl's Roost (ENOR) Environmental Discovery Camp is a nationally recognized, award-winning educational program sponsored by the CSU Jefferson County 4-H program. ENOR has been offering magical outdoor, experiential learning experiences for 51 years!

Position Summary


We are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic individuals to join our team. The ideal candidate must be able to guide team members and campers in a in a safe and caring environment, possess stellar customer service skills, and be a supportive team player. The camp takes place at various public lands. The day is a combination of hiking and planned activities, following curriculum designed for each grade level.

2025 dates: June 2 - July 11 (no camp week of June 30-July 4)

Hours: 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. daily, Monday through Friday

Position Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have verifiable education or training in work with school-age children in such areas as recreation, education, scouting, or 4-H; and must have completed at least one of the following qualifications:
    • A four (4) year college degree with a major such as recreation, education with a specialty in art, elementary or early childhood education, environmental education, or a subject in the human services field.
    • OR Two years of college training and six (6) months of satisfactory and verifiable full-time or equivalent part-time or, paid or volunteer, experience since attaining the age of eighteen (18), in the care and supervision of 4 or more children.
  • Certification in First Aid/CPR or ability to obtain certification before camp. (A class will be offered.)
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must favorably pass a Motor Vehicle Record check.
  • Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain a driver's license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.

Child Care Requirements:

ENOR is a licensed childcare through the State of Colorado. All potential staff must submit to and pass the following background checks:
  • CBI/FBI fingerprint background/criminal history check.
  • TRAILS child abuse registry report.
*Additional criminal history and child abuse registry checks may be required if the applicant has lived in Colorado for fewer than five (5) years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience building and leading a team.
  • Strong background in natural sciences or environmental education.
  • Some knowledge of outdoor safety skills and Leave No Trace techniques.
  • Experience driving transport vans.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Provides leadership and organizes, coordinates, and implements environmental education programs, performs direct program supervision, scheduling and preparing daily activities and use of trails based on curriculum, lessons and philosophies developed by Colorado State University Extension in Jefferson County representatives; performs weekly evaluations of the program and modifies programs as necessary to address deficiencies. Informs Camp Coordinator of program modifications and identified needs for curriculum updates; holds staff meetings for educators in program.
  • Oversees daily transportation, van checks, and oversees pick-up and drop-off sites and special mountain pick-up sites, ensuring the safety of participants.
  • Assigns, directs and supervises activities of assigned seasonal educators, ensuring adherence to established policies, procedures and standards; and assists and advises team, as necessary, with integrity in thought, word and deed; resolving problems as non-routine situations arise; ability to lead a team with inspiration, encouragement, enthusiasm and respect.
  • Leads daily opening and closing circles with program participants and staff. Leads weekly staff meetings.
  • Safely transport campers to daily sites.
